Sustainable materials and exquisite design merge in one breathtaking pair of earrings. Thinly-sliced tagua nuts are collected from the rainforest floor, carved, dyed, and etched by women in Colombia to create knockout works of wearable art.
Since the year 2000, entrepreneurs Ana Piedrahira and Javier Cardenas have been working with low-income women artisans to improve their lives for the better. Their fair-trade enterprise, Sapia, employs thirty-two women, with over fifty more working as independent contractors -- each receiving a living wage for her work.
