The women who produce these pottery items are from the Lencan region of Honduras. They practice traditional, low temperature burnished pottery techniques to create these ethnic designs. The coop works to provide adequate food and nourishment for the artisans and their children, legal assistance, training and technical assistance, work organisation, financial assistance and marketing for commercial promotion of the traditional handicrafts. Lenca women have traditionally found it hard to have a voice in a strong machismo climate, giving them the power to produce these handicrafts lets them be heard, respected and gives them financial stability to raise their children.
