Aj QuenGuatemalaSince 1989, Aj Quen has worked with more than 800 widowed women in Guatemala to rebuild their communities after a civil war that caused over 200,000 rural civilian casualties. Empowered to create their own businesses, these women preserve their culture by stitching traditional patterns onto handbags that tell rich stories of the indigenous people. In addition to employment, this group addresses issues like gender equity, family planning, and human rights. |
