The Naqada Silk Project was born along the historic west bank of the Nile in Egypt. Naqada is considered one of the leading weaving communities in Egypt, due to a distinct style of weaving. The project was developed in order employ artisans affected by an embargo against Sudan, severely limiting economic trade in the region. The Naqada Silk Project brings financial stability to the region and empowers artisans to earn a steady income, improve their formal education, and invest in their land.
