Fair Trade Egypt works to create economic empowerment for its artisans, many of whose skills are being replaced by industry mechanization. Founded in 1998 in Cairo, artisans are preserving ancient traditions and skills passed down from their ancestors, in the form of eco-positive, sustainable crafts. Through business and skills training, the predominantly female artisans learn to run their own industries, empowering them to become self-sufficient leaders.
