Artesanos de Pomaire

Chile

Pomaire, Chile is a region rich in traditional craft production. During the eighteenth century, the women of Pomaire used local materials to create ceramic products in workshops, while the men worked on out-lying farms in the region. Today, both men and women work in the ceramic workshops to create income for their families. Twenty-five of these artisans partner with the Chilean fair trade organization, Comparte, to find markets for their products in the U.S. and Europe.
