Kandari was founded in 1999 by Komang Sulaksana and her husband in the small village of Tegallalang, Bali, Indonesia where employment is scarce. The couple has grown an organization that provides reliable income for village youth and elderly women, utilizing sustainable and natural local materials. Each of the 1,300 artisans gains valuable vocational skills, while earning a fair wage—accomplishing their goal to reduce poverty while promoting development for their community—one family at a time.
