Circle of the Sun was founded in 2001 by Joshua Sandstrom, who saw tribes around the world struggling to bridge their ancient cultures with modern society; He saw an opportunity for rural communities in Bolivia to earn up to three times the prevailing wage by offering locals a market for their unique, sustainably-cultivated weavings.
