Maya TraditionsGuatemalaFounded in 1988 on Lake Atitlan, Guatemala, Maya Traditions works to preserve traditional Mayan traditions and provide consistent economic sustenance for women weavers, many of whom have struggled to rebuild their lives after surviving decades of civil war. What began as a co-op of small families grew to include 100 women in five rural groups, which improve the lives of their artisans through the promise of reliable living wages, product development support, education and health care. |
